The fatal shootings by ICE of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston and Joan Sebastian Guerrero in Maine have reignited calls for justice across the country, including in Minnesota, where communities are still seeking accountability for the killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti during Operation Metro Surge.

Minneapolis residents overwhelmingly opposed a proposed police drone pilot program during a July 8 public hearing, raising concerns about surveillance, privacy and the Minneapolis Police Department's history of misconduct. More than 40 speakers showed up in opposition to the proposal. The Minneapolis City Council's Public Health, Safety and Equity Committee advanced the measure without recommendation to the full council for a July 16 vote.
