
Power 104.7 Level I Media Lab
Program Details:
The Power 104.7 Level I Media Lab is a four (4) week in-person learning program. The program starts July 6 - July 30, 2026 from noon - 4 p.m. at the Power 104.7 Studio in downtown St. Paul, 370 Wabasha St. This is a paid learning opportunity with stipends of $1,500 upon completion.
This program is designed for those who have a desire to gain exposure to journalism and explore it as a possible career path. Applicants do not need to be on a “traditional” learning or career track. Participants shall be between the ages of 16-24.
Training includes daily reporting assignments, live and live‑to‑tape broadcasts, field reporting, critiques, mentorship, and portfolio reviews. Participants will perform live radio broadcasts on CBJ’s FM station, Power 104.7 (online at Power1047.fm). Instructors are award-winning professionals who have the highest level of expertise in media.
The goal of the Power 104.7 Level I Media Lab is to offer the basics of journalism, media production, communications and related fields to create a more diverse, prepared and ethically grounded generation of media professionals serving their communities. This is an inclusive training program, with emphasis on Black journalists and other underserved communities.
By immersing participants in a live, deadline‑driven radio newsroom with structured instruction, mentorship and critique, the Power 104.7 Level I Media Lab equips reporters with the habits and skills required for sustainable media careers.
