CAIR-MN responds to attack on Minneapolis Mosque

Updated: Apr 17

This past Sunday, security cameras captured a white male breaking and entering the Tawfiq Islamic Center mosque in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis.

An early estimate of the cost of damages along with donations lost is approximately $50,000.

“This is a tragedy and it requires all the communities to take this seriously. An attack on one place of worship is an attack on all places of worship. We hope that through the investigation done by law enforcement and city officials the suspect will be brought to justice, ” said Mowlid Ali, imam of a nearby mosque. “This is the time we come together to show unity and solidarity through difficulties. Some good will come out of this: unity, solidarity and change to help a community that is suffering.”

Minneapolis Police are currently investigating the case. They and CAIR-MN are asking for help from the community for any information about the incident.

According to CAIR-MN this is the latest in a series of recent incidents targeting mosques and other Islamic institutions in Minnesota and nationwide.
